The Pamborises loved the idea of a new family home and moved to Ewell to achieve this. What they missed was a real family hub to share and so they engaged Thames Design and Build to realise their vision
The Pamborises live in their 1920s house in Thorndon Gardens, Ewell, with their 20- month- old toddler. They moved from Earls eld, where they had a two-bedroomed at, to enjoy more of the family lifestyle they wanted with their young daughter. The house that they fell in love with gave them this opportunity. It is a four-bedroom semi-detached with period features, that backs on to a park. Whilst the location was perfect, the layout was not. The family wanted ‘a lovely large space to be the hub of the home’. To achieve their dream they wanted to open up the separate dark rooms at the rear and make the space bigger by adding a new extension.
The Pamborises found out about Thames Design and Build (TDB) through Checkaprofessional.com. They chose TDB because of its ‘end-to-end process from design and planning application support, through to the final build and kitchen install’. TDB takes an all-encompassing approach to all of its projects and supports clients through every step, through its knowledge and experience in design and planning, but also construction.
Clients do not have to work with different companies and can put their trust in TDB to provide a comprehensive package of services from advice and design, submitting planning and building regulations, estimating for construction and ultimately building. This is a rare mix of experience and knowledge all under one roof.
TDB worked with the family from the free initial meeting through to completion of construction. The designers understood what Joseph was trying to achieve for his family, considering budget and planning constraints. Designs were developed and discussed and a final design was submitted. Building regulation drawings were then developed, a construction quotation was agreed and a date for construction was set. TDB also assigned one of its construction teams to the project, with a site manager and project coordinator, that stayed throughout the construction.
The Pamboris family lived in the house throughout the construction phase and found TDB ‘to be really reliable, considerate of our neighbours, they were extremely tidy and always made sure they made the house secure at the end of the day. They were also very accommodating of an inquisitive toddler!’ The project was completed within timescale even though there was a major delay when an old well was discovered while excavating the foundations for the extension. Work was interrupted whilst the council adjudged whether this was protected. Once established that it was not protected, work proceeded and was still completed on time. TDB’s philosophy is to provide a comprehensive service for anyone who wants to make changes to their home. This is achieved by building relationships from the first email or phone call. Its knowledgeable team is passionate about helping clients achieve their dream home. Joseph and his family are delighted with the end results: ‘we now spend most of our family time in the new room. We can keep an eye on our active toddler, who is loving the fact she has such a large space to run around in. We also love having such a large space to host friends and family who have all been equally impressed with the design, build and finish’. Would Joseph recommend Thames Design and Build? Yes, he already has!
